There's already been a notice about this years Software Freedom Day on the
NZLUG and I was wondering if anyone here has been making plans.

I was thinking that we can set up some sort of public display on the Saturday
before SFD to get wide public interest before having an install fest on SFD
proper. That way we can reach the people who are working on Mondays.

Some suggestions for a display:
0 Hand out or sell flash drives with Linux pre-installed
0 Demonstrate separate desktop environments (freedom to customise)
0 Graphical package management is a killer app. Flaunt it.
0 If anyone here has written some patches on major applications /
libraries please add it to the display. This will show how
things
                get done.
0 Location and advertising! Make sure people come to the display and
that they can find it easily. Try getting some signs in shop
windows
                a few days ahead.
        0 Encourage CLUG membership.

I may or may not manage to be at a chch event this year. I'm hoping to be
happily slaving away as a sys admin by then. If that isn't the case I am once
again willing to put on a penguin costume and give balloons to small children
if someone can get me the costume and helium.

BTW, would it be a faux pas to bring some copies of my CV?
