Can be worse. Some sites censor based on the OS you're coming from
too, not only the browser. On the national linux list (NZLUG) a poster
mentioned POLi (Pay Online) used by Air New Zealand - and probably
other sites - that on their site at:
http://www.polipayments.com/faq.html towards the end of the page they
clearly state: "... your computer must meet the following minimum
system requirements: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or above Compatible
Browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0+, Firefox 2+,Chrome (Javascript must
be enabled) Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows (XP SP2+, Vista,
Windows 7, Server 2003, Server 2008)" No Linux. At least they let you
use Firefox... Adrian _______________________________________________

I wish someone would come up with an open source POLi client. Each
domestic AirNZ ticket paid by credit card costs an additional $4 or $6
now, compared to payment via POLi.
Some time back I tried to get around POLi's Windows and .NET dependency
by setting up Mono to substitute for .NET and setting Firefox to spoof
IE, but it didn't work. The challenge is beyond this non-hacker.
If you have a Mac, you can identify the flight, get the AirNZ call
centre to make the booking, charge it to your credit card and get it (in
most cases) for the POLi price, just by telling the call centre operator
you've using a Mac. But they don't extend the same courtesy to Linux users.
