This is a no-brainer: octave!

Free from your local distro-server. Largely matlab compatible, though
due to the exorbitant license fees of the latter, compatibility remains
untested. You will need to work through some beginners tutorial, but
octave is the sort of tool you won't ever want to be without. Just like
bash.

It's a matrix-oriented methodology. Create a sequence of numbers, stuff
them into the argument of a sine function for the sine of each number,
add, plot. About 7 lines total for 4 sine waves.

Let me know if you get stuck and I'll cobble up some octave statements
for you.
