I wouldn't dare speak for distros I haven't used, so I will usually say something like: "On my distro, it works like this. It may be the same on yours." That is why we make our replies distro specific. The gurus who have experience with multiple distros are in a better position to give distro-agnostic replies. The newbies like me can only speak confidently about our own distro.
