I'm having a blond moment... well week to be honest. I remember looking at methods of sharing mounts between the physical server and a KVM client, but ended up using NFS as they weren't yet supported (in squeeze).
I'm now looking to see whether wheezy will work, but can't for the life of me find out what it was I was looking at in the first place. My google foo has run off... all I can sort of remember is that the device type may have had a number in it. Anyone got any idea??
