Hi Nick and community,

Just for the record, it is not on a proper network yet. Just getting it's internet access from a laptop with mobile broadband acting as a wifi hotspot.

Will look at networking later. Was just looking to get zoneminder up and running first. Will just chuck some random email client on it for the meantime.

Cheers,

Peter

    Hi All,

Have followed the guide mostly to the letter.

Had issues with mySQL configuration files not being there and
errors relating to this in the install.

I am assuming mySQL is not present. I can use the ubuntu software
center to install either the client or server version. Should I
    install one of these?

    the guide is:

http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_Server_14.04_64-bit_with_Zoneminder_1.28.0_the_easy_way

Sorry I can't provide the terminal output until i've got email set
    up on the server.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Peter

When you install zoneminder it installs mysql-server and mysql-client as dependencies. So no, you shouldn't need to install anything else.

You don't need email to get terminal output. SSH in from whatever machine has email. Copy and paste to your SSH terminal to your email program.
