Hi All,

I need to get an external hard disk formatted for use on linux, windows xp etc. Was preferring to use truecrypt which requires an ntfs partition due to it's excellent performance (and linux compatibility).

Problem is, even if I format in in linux as ntfs, when trying to do anything with it in windows xp I only get "GPT protected partition" and can not mount the drive, change partiotions or anything. Of course all functionality is available on windows 7 and upwards.

How do you recommend getting rid of this m$ (black)malware, and how would I best go about getting it formatted in a more accessible ntfs fashion that would be accessible to linux and windows xp without error?

Cheers,

Peter
