Do you have a second hard drive?
I have this exact dual boot situation working fine on my laptop due to a second
hard drive.
One drive is pure windows, it knows nothing about the linux drive, and
vice-versa.
It is set to default boot to windows (it’s a work machine).
If I want to boot linux I press F9 at boot to select boot device and choose the
linux drive.
So everything is completely separate, don’t have windows or linux trying to
create boot menus for both OS’s which can screw up from past experience.

Regards,
  Bryce Stenberg.
