For my mass backup I use Crashplan (https://www.crashplan.com/) with a "Family" subscription on my Windows, Mac and Linux computers. It's closed source (and Java) and all that but it just works and given how much I've got backed up to it the online storage is fairly cheap. Their client also supports backing up to local storage, and other computers running the client (both yours and those of your friends).
I also use Attic (https://attic-backup.org). I use it with both local (well, NFS) repositories, and remote via SSH. Don't know how good it is technically and stuff but it is pretty cool and has worked fine for me, so far.
