That approach has some serious downside: You are handing over control
and integrity of your Linux system (in its VM) to the foundations it
runs on, i.e. Microsoft. Some people find that not acceptable on
ethical, political, or technical grounds (or all of them), especially
given that it is impossible to turn off Microsoft's system sending all
sorts of unspecified and unverifiable information from your computer to
Microsoft. Yes, true, the current windows OS sends unknown quantities of
data to Microsoft on a permanent basis, and you can't turn that off.

If you only need to connect to outdated equipment on your
employer-supplied systems then of course you don't have a problem.
