Ive given fedora core 3 with iiimf a shot and it seems that the Vietnamese support is not making much sense to me.
To even get iiimf started when logged in with an en_US locale I had to do this:
$ mkdir ~/.xinput.d $ ln -s /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/iiimf ~/.xinput.d/default
Then I added gimlet to the panel, started gedit and selected "Viát Nam" in gimlet. ( I have no idea why its not "Tiáng Viát", I want to select the language not the country)
Anyway, anytime I type a vowel I get an incomplete picklist with some possibilites. I dont quite know how to generate most of the characters I need (I couldnt even figure out how to make an "á" ) Hrm, I wontder why its not VIQR or TELIX or something..
If anyone is clued in to what exactly the iiimf implementation of Vietnamese input is supposed to be or has information os how to use it I would be obliged.
In the meantime I think I'll look into how those iiimf data files are created- perhaps I can make a better one for Vietnamese, or at least some more alternatives...
