> Is there a list of confusable Unicode glyphs somewhere?

The Unicode standard contains cross-references to characters
with similar glyphs, and the full database is in

  http://www.unicode.org/Public/UNIDATA/NamesList.txt

For example:

00B5 MICRO SIGN
        # 03BC greek small letter mu

Look for lines that start with # or x.

The Linux tool gucharmap allows you to browse these as well.

Depending on your exaxt application needs, these lists may need some
tweaking.
