I'm not contributing to the discussion, I just noticed that your 
keyboard mapping appears to be broken:

> pm/PM is ÂÂ/ÎÎ (ÂÎÏÎ ÂÎÏÎÂÃÏÎÎÏ)
The characters in your mail are
        "Â" (U+00B5 MICRO SIGN) rather than
        "Î" (U+03BC GREEK SMALL LETTER MU)
        (which is UTF-8 CEBC as quoted in your google URL)
and - much worse because of the significantly different glyphs -
        "Ã" (U+00DF LATIN SMALL LETTER SHARP S) rather than
        "Î" (U+03B2 GREEK SMALL LETTER BETA).
