What is the output of: echo -e '日本語\b\bhello' It should be: “日本hello” and not “日hello”. I’m not sure which it does. Also try with explicit cursor positioning escapes. (I’d appreciate it if you could try and report since I no longer have them installed and forgot to check this while I did.)
