I have made a pre-release of my editor mined which now also supports
combining characters in addition to UTF-8 and wide characters. It runs
in xterm with Robert's patch.
Combining characters can be viewed in both combined and separated modes.
Their parts can currently only be edited in separated mode.
Documentation has not yet been updated, please look into the file
CHANGES for information how to use combining character mode.
The archive is available from

It seems there are a few double-width combining characters (listed below);
Is there something like a double-width space where I could place them on
in separated display mode? Or should it also work to combine them with
a sequence of two spaces? I couldn't test them anyway as they don't seem
to be contained in the current X fonts (18x18ja/ko).
