I'm seeing excellent results with XFree 4.0.1 and M17.
http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/utf8.html displays fine and many more
pages I've visited--no problem.
Just as a data point, Mozilla has a language-sensitive glyph
selection, so that a pound sign within "Western" text has a different
shape than a pound sign within "Eastern" text. Good luck in hunting
down your bug!
