Solaris 8 uses "IIIMF" (Internet/Intranet Input Method Framework)
for input methods, expanded from XIM (X Input Method).
IIIMF is based on IIIMP (IIIM Protocol).
This IIIMF is newly appeared recent day, so there are a few
application (Emacs frontend: IIIMECF (IIIM Emacs Client Framework:
ftp://ftp.m17n.org/pub/mule/IIIM/IIIMECF-0.2.tar.gz), Solaris 8 Desktop)
to be ready for use.

XIM has some lack of ability to input prural languages,
it's more serious under UTF-8 locales. IIIMF is one of
answers to provide input method for Unicode environments.
