You are not telling something new to anybody.
Already in 1993 I described what was wrong with the
Linux console implementation. It does not really
conform to anything, but vaguely reminds one of
standards like 2022.
Every now and then this is again "discovered"
and generates some traffic. Long ago, making Linux
precisely 2022-compliant could have been a project,
and I did a few small steps in that direction, but
always valueing backwards compatibility higher than
compliance. These days I do not think there is any
reason at all to aim at 2022 and family.
So, this is just dead junk today.
And "ESC ( K" on Linux means precisely what it means:
activate the mapping loaded by mapscrn.
