What do you mean with 'UTF-8 mode'? Switching Emacs to UTF-8 terminal
mode? This won't be possible until Emacs 21.1 or later because of
a missing feature in the input method handling. (A fix is already
available, but it won't make it's way into Emacs 21, I was told.)
