I definitly second this, we've just go rid of the iso-2022 state and
_really_ don't want to re-introduce the problems.

Currently I've done this as a combining character ie:

   WO2: previous character has width 2.

It may fit better with unicode encoding ... but I don't know if it'd
work with WO1.

Is there a preference for how WO0/1/2 should be encoded?
