Hi,

sorry if my problem is too trivial or if this may be the wrong list ... but
I am really looking for
an explanation.
I get an XML Document via SOAP, it is UTF-8 encoded. When I try to output it
on a shell, it
still is UTF-8. I know for sure, because I can use recode utf8..lat1 and
then the output looks all right.
My locale is set to de_DE. What really is worrying me is that when I write
it to a db it still is encoded.
This UTF-8 seems to be a bit sticky.
I tried setting latin1 in the OutputFormat with no success ...
The really strange thing is, on my solaris box all works fine. It is normal
java output in latin1 as it should.
I know java uses UTF-8 if it does't know better. But I don't know why this
time.

I am using Susu 7.0, and JDK 1.3 (Blackdown, IBM and SUN)

Can anyone help??

Thanks, Heike
