Hi, When using Mnemonic transliteration, that one produces already shaped characters.
Mnemonic &b; ======== Glyph info: medial FE92 [0628] FE92 - shaped - original text 0628 - plain - [not in original text, but possible] Characters that come already shaped in the original are not re-shaped in the editor. Arabic kmap b ============= Glyph info: [isolated FE8F] 0628 isolated FE8F - the currently used presentation form 0628 - the original character. isolated FE8F changes with context. (medial: FE92 initial: FE91). Conversion ========== If you happend to have an already shaped file, don't lose hope :) The 'deshape' converter can read it de-shaped. There is also an 'shape' converter - these converter are mostly for uniconv. Unfortunatelly 2.5.beta4 has a bug, be sure to apply: http://www.yudit.org/download/yudit-2.5.beta4.patch1.txt when using deshape converter. beta5, will have this patch. Composed characters appearing separatelly ========================================= In shaping two characters can share the same box, similarily to composing characters but without overstrike. When two characters that should share the same box, are entered separatelly, they will put in separate boxes in order to retain undo functionality. Shaping algorithm is applied to these boxes. To force them into one box, two things are possible: - use a keymap that produces a character series, i.e. output two or more characters, to form a single box. The current Arabic.kmap produces only single characters. - cut&paste - save/reload.
