That's not done at the PS level.  PS only sees glyphs.  The issue of
resolving a stream of characters to a matrix of glyphs is done earlier
than the PS interpreter ever sees the text.

In other words: the role of the PS system is to put glyphs at the
places requested by the client.  Whether or not the client uses
OpenType tables or guesswork to dispose the glyphs is none of the PS
interpreter's business.
