Hello,
Security is a hot topic now that IDN documents are approaching finalization.
The Bytext FAQ covers some solutions that are unique to Bytext such as a
full set of Control Pictures and the fallback glyphs property. Start at
the homepage: www.bytext.org.

Im also considering changing the first placeholder (Bytext terminology) of
each character to represent an East Asian Width variant instead of an
implicit bidirectionality variant (another term specific to Bytext). This
would probably involve dumping the whole notion of an implicit bidi variant
altogether and just rely on 2 control characters for all bidi needs. That
way all bidi levels can be systematically visualized with 2 simple unique
glyphs, if desired. I think this is what Gaspar had in mind for a reversable
bidi algorithm. It also seems to be a better match with the way bidi would
make sense to be implemented in a full markup environment, so you eliminate
all this overriding of the algorithm. Also of course you get the whole
benefit that 2 control characters are inherently more understandable (than
7) to the people who have to use them, which is inherently more secure. Id
be happy to get opinions on the matter.
