NULL is the ISO 6429 name for this one. C macros is something else.
See ftp://ftp.ecma.ch/ecma-st/Ecma-048.pdf, which is technically the
same as ISO/IEC 6429:1992. It also defines "short names", and NUL
is the short name for NULL, just like NEL is the short name for
NEXT LINE (which, b.t.w., is likely to be allowed as a line ending
character in XML 1.1).
