Reading Jungshik's and Pablo's remarks about diacritics, I have a question:

Fonts often store combined characters with special modifications done
so that the characters look good. For example the vietnamese ?-shaped
diacritical mark will look different attached alongside other diacritics.
Also, some characters have no precomposed codepoints ("g with tilde")

In an opentype font, when trying to encode a glyph which implements
a specialization which does not have a single code point representation
in NF-C, how does one refer to/query the existence of/deal with such
characters?

Looking at cmap format 12, I dont see any way to encode this,
because there is still only ucs-4 entries in the map. There isnt a way
to provide a glyph for say an "I" with 12 particular diacritics...

(For the sake of argument, if all precomposed glyphs were abolished,
leaving NFC==NFD, then how would we store composition specializations
inside fonts...)

perhaps im missing something....
I am aware of techniques used to make this more automatic, but I imagine
there will always be a need for the custom touch of a font designer...
