In a nutshell, you will need a compiler (gcc), the kernel sources and a 
subversion client. Install those using the Ubuntu package manager (I don't 
know the exact package names, sorry).

You should then get the Linux UVC sources from SVN as explained on 
http://linux-uvc.berlios.de. To compile them, just type make in the source 
directory. Then, as root, execute make install to install the module.

There might be some tweaks required here and there, you should search the list 
archive to check for Ubuntu-related issues.
