Assuming your webcam is UVC compliant, those are the instructions you need to follow. What you're doing is installing the latest version of the UVC driver for Linux.
In brief, here's what you need to do in Kubuntu. I'm assuming you're in 7.04? >From the command line: sudo apt-get install svn svn checkout svn://svn.berlios.de/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk cd .../trunk You'll need to modify the make file. Look for the line INSTALL_MOD_DIR := usb/media Change it to INSTALL_MOD_DIR := kernel/ubuntu/media/usbvideo Then back in the command line: make sudo make install Reboot your machine, and you'll have installed the latest UVC driver.
