Assuming your webcam is UVC compliant, those are the instructions you
need to follow. What you're doing is installing the latest version of
the UVC driver for Linux.

In brief, here's what you need to do in Kubuntu. I'm assuming you're in
7.04?

>From the command line:
sudo apt-get install svn
svn checkout svn://svn.berlios.de/linux-uvc/linux-uvc/trunk
cd .../trunk

You'll need to modify the make file. Look for the line
INSTALL_MOD_DIR := usb/media

Change it to
INSTALL_MOD_DIR := kernel/ubuntu/media/usbvideo

Then back in the command line:

make
sudo make install

Reboot your machine, and you'll have installed the latest UVC driver.

Hopefully that helps,

Nathanael
