I wonder if it would be possible to access my webcam with several applications
simultaneously?
I would like to stream my cam 24/7 via VLC, but want to be able to use it with
wengophone at the
same time, without killing the VLC server.
I know that v4l2 applications bind to the video device exclusively, but
wouldn't it be possible to setup
kind of a shadow video device which is just a copy of the original v4l2 device?
This shadow device doesn't
need to implement any controls, just stream a copy of all frames that are sent
from the cam to the primary
video device (/dev/video0), so other, secondary applications can just "listen"
to the stream.
