Just made a simple rule here:
ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="05ac", \
ATTRS{idProduct}=="8300",
RUN+="/sbin/extract /lib/firmware/AppleUSBVideoSupport"
works perfectly fine with the ectract tool in /sbin and the firmware
in /lib/firmware.
The tool can be found here:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~rbultje/linux-uvc-0.1.0-e.tar.gz
Looks much cleaner than kernel side for me that way.
