Hi all, Thank you for the responses on the iSight issue.
I have managed to resolve the issue over the weekend... the problem was due to the firmware loading. Although that the extract tool reported that the firmware was loaded successfully, it apparently wasn't. After installing the isight firmware tool package, everything started working perfectly. Best regards, Chris. --- > Chris Vanden Berghe schrieb: >> Hi all, >> >> I'm having exactly the same problem with revision 186 and kernel >> 2.6.24-8 on Kubuntu 8.04. >> >> The isight firmware and module load successfully, but no video >> device is created. >> >> Feb 20 23:35:52 darwin kernel: [ 35.648328] uvcvideo: Found UVC >> 1.00 device Built-in iSight (05ac:8501) >> Feb 20 23:35:52 darwin kernel: [ 35.648336] uvcvideo: No valid >> video chain found. >> Feb 20 23:35:52 darwin kernel: [ 35.649122] usbcore: registered new >> interface driver uvcvideo >> Feb 20 23:35:52 darwin kernel: [ 35.649126] USB Video Class driver >> (SVN r186) >> >> Does anybody know a solution/workaround for this problem? > It does work for me. > > dmesg: >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Brightness to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/2. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Contrast to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/3. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Hue to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/6. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Saturation to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/7. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Sharpness to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/8. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Gamma to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/9. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Backlight Compensation to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/1. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Gain to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/4. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Power Line Frequency to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/5. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Hue, Auto to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/16. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Exposure, Auto to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001/2. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Exposure, Auto Priority to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001/3. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Exposure (Absolute) to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001/4. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping White Balance Temperature, Auto to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/11. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping White Balance Temperature to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/10. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Focus (absolute) to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001/6. >> uvcvideo: Adding mapping Focus, Auto to control >> 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001/8. >> uvcvideo: Probing known UVC device 4 (05ac:8501) >> uvcvideo: Found format YUV 4:2:2 (UYVY). >> uvcvideo: - 640x480 (30.0 fps) >> uvcvideo: - 352x288 (30.0 fps) >> uvcvideo: - 320x240 (30.0 fps) >> uvcvideo: Found a Status endpoint (addr 81). >> uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Built-in iSight (05ac:8501) >> uvcvideo: Added control 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/2 to >> device 4 entity 2 >> uvcvideo: Added contlrol 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/7 to >> device 4 entity 2 >> uvcvideo: Added control 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/8 to >> device 4 entity 2 >> uvcvideo: Added control 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000101/9 to >> device 4 entity 2 >> uvcvideo: Scanning UVC chain: OT 3 <- PU 2 <- IT 1 >> uvcvideo: Found a valid video chain (1 -> 3). >> uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 1 (unit 0) : -32 (exp. 26). >> uvcvideo: UVC device initialized. >> usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo >> USB Video Class driver (SVN r186) > > # lsusb > Bus 001 Device 006: ID 05ac:8501 Apple Computer, Inc.
