$ ffmpeg -f video4linux2 -s 320x240 -i /dev/video0 -f oss -ac 2 -i /dev/dsp1 -f mp4 test.mp4
I'm running FC8 with Dell Optiplexgx260 (Intel card), and Linksys Pro 9000 webcam. My test.mp4 returned both video and audio. If this is of interest, and more info needed, let me know what commands to run, and I'll forward results.
