Hi Laurent,

thank you for the info; indeed I tried to compile the released package 
but was unsuccesful. I will try again with the SVN version.
However, today I tried the Optia with a Windows machine, where the 
exposure control is available and can be manually overriden. 
Unfortunately, it seems that images under bright sunlight are 
overexposed also at the minimum exposure value.
So, the camera was actually (automatically) adjusting for the minimum 
exposure when I tried it under linux, but this is not enough. Probably 
the camera sensor is somehow "optimized" for low light conditions. I'll 
try to get a different model, or maybe I will just try to put some 
filter in front of it...
