Off topic:

It is interesting to see how two opposite forces push for same thing:

Linux wants standard devices to have less drivers and wider support
Microsoft wants standard devices so they can reduce number of drivers to lock 
down the system hard.

(Imagine having only standard compliant devices, then windows kernel can 
completely signed and locked)

And Linux wins at the end since you can always unlock the windows by replacing 
it with Linux.
