The camera indeed supports YUV only, but that shouldn't prevent if from 
working with video software.

The latest luvcview version (available from the SVN repository at 
http://svn.quickcamteam.net/svn/luvcview/trunk/luvcview/) should be smarter 
and pick an appropriate format.

Sane, as in "scanner access now easy" ? I'm not sure to understand how that 
would affect other applications, as most video applications use the V4L2 API 
directly.

Could you elaborate on the production software that doesn't work with the 
camera ? At least Ekiga should work properly.

Thanks for the data. I collect USB devices descriptors so I'm actually 
interested.
