There was also a older version of this model that used gspca and
although it add several color controls the end result was pretty much
the same, very bad colors:

So I would say that the newer model uses the same or similar
sensor/optics, and that the resulting picture ends up overexposed or
with a gain increased in such a way that produces that sort of washed
colors (low contrast).
This can indicate a low quality/low sensitive cmos sensor (and
probably also low quality plastic optics). With a better sensor (CCD
or high quality cmos) smaller increases in gain and exposure would be
enough to produce a good image, even in low light. It can also be that
the firmware that controls these parameters is just bad :-(

You can however try to reduce the fps value, this may (depending on
the firmware) increase the exposure time and reduce gain producing a
little better image (at least in some cameras I've tested reducing fps
makes for a brighter image).
