I did some tests and it happens at all resolutions except 1280x1024; at least the image is centered at that resolution. I put an object in front of the notebook and took a screenshot in linux and w7, without moving anything between the screenshots, resolution was set to 640x480 each time. http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1583/bisoncam640x480w7.png http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/7683/uvc640x480mdv20100.png > > Can a Bios update bring up webcam malfunction? > > Yes, a BIOS update can even reflash the webcam firmware. As said, I don't remember for sure if and how good the cam worked before the bios update... However, I won't to go back to an old bios because the new one has some improvements to fan control and sata (ahci) configuration and there is always a risk to brick a notebook while flashing bios :) > Could you please send me the output of 'lsusb -v -d 0402:5606' ? Today I noticed again a poor webcam performance in Linux, while I get max. 7 fps at full sun exposure, the video runs smooth in win 7, even at lower exposure (at least 15 fps). Furthermore, the image is more bright and sharp on Windows, but I would be happy if I can get a full sized output at all. If required, I can capture a USB trace on win 7 (would SysNucleus USBTrace be a good software for that? (Have already installed it) _______________________________________________ Linux-uvc-devel mailing list Linux-uvc-devel@lists.berlios.de https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/linux-uvc-devel
