Hi, Following a discussion with Julien Abeille.
We’re working on a new, low cost, low power, low size Power Line Communication Technology. As for us, the scope of application is tied to radio PANs (home automation, smartgrid), we have developed a “802.15.4 like” MAC layer above our own PHY layer. Today we’re fully “frame compliant” with 802.15.4 PHY and MAC frame format, our transceiver is very close from AT86RF230 specifications, and we have already port contiki siclowpan architecture to some of our devices (devkit, smartplugs). One of our products is a “kind of” USB dongle on which we use an application specific firmware to get linked with some end-user PC applications. We’re now very interested in your great project that could be a first step to get WPC Network technology linked to a Host with networks management capabilities (Linux kernel in this case). At the moment our first questions are: 1) Is there any specification of serial driver protocol you are using ? 2) As I saw in some previous post, you plan to transfer some MAC services from your stack to hardware or firmware (CSMA, Ack, Retries, …). I think that it will imply some new commands across serial driver (parameters settings, data-request confirmations, …). Does your serial driver protocol already specify this kind of things or do you plan them ? 3) Which are the IEEE 802.15.4 timing specifications that are really implemented in your stack ? I mean that on a “timing level” we are quite different from IEE802.15.4 specfication so, the less you do the better it is for our fist tries … Regards, Pierre-emmanuel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Enter the BlackBerry Developer Challenge This is your chance to win up to $100,000 in prizes!
