Hi again,

(replying to myself)

I found out the problem to my compilation issues. I did the following 
change in the configure.ac (one line fix):
-PKG_CHECK_MODULES([NL], [libnl-3.0])
+PKG_CHECK_MODULES([NL], [libnl-3.0, libnl-genl-3.0])

Still, I do not know if my problem is/was Fedora/CentOS related or not.
