Hm, these utilities are more likely to be stored in the
bootloader/firmware (8mb utility flash), NOT on the 4gb nand flash memory.
hard rebooting + holding rewind+action keys start the ipod diags utility:
"iPod Diagnostics 06/09/18 V.0140"
1/ power: acc switch, battery a2d test, acc identify, charge current,
highpower mode
2/ audio: audio test
3/ lcd: backlight control, color pattern
4/ wheel and key: wheel test, touchwheel ID (0:8290003a, 1:b610013a,
2:8000023a, 3:8023033a, 4:8066043a, 5:8001053a), key test
5/ sleep: shortsleep test, hib test
6/ others: nand_spec (nand_lba=1982464), sdram qscan (ok), flash
checksum (calculating ... 0x7662), status (hp_detec:0, regn: 0x0022
0x0001, SrNm ..., Mod# MA725, HwVr: 00100007, usb detect ..., charge
off, etc), reset test (also known as 'hard reboot')
I think we cannot gain access to anything this way, they're just
advanced test utilities, they may help a hotline operator to find out
what's wrong, remotely, but that's all :/

Again, wrong list. :P
Under the Status
HP_DETECT: 1
Regn:0x0001 0x0002
SrNm:5U6380FDV8W
Mod#:MA428 (Probally how iTunes may get color - models = color
specific/size specific)
HwVr:00100007
USB_DETECT:1 (Plugged in)
Charge On (Plugged in)
Ext Power Off
LCD Detect0:0
LCD Detect1:1
Flash Checksum = 0x1E9A
NAND_SPEC
NandLBA = 1982464
It includes other various tests...
This is probally stored wherever the disk mode is stored.
But, with mtools being in rsrc, which controls fat16/32 partitions,
maybe this is where these utilities are stored?
