1) Are we talking about running tn5250 from console mode, running xt5250
    from X, or some other scenario?

2) Did the xterm-5250 terminfo entry get installed properly?  

3) If you're running this in console mode, did you do a loadkeys?

4) Does your window manager interpret the F12 key?   Is it using it for
      something else, and not passing it through to TN5250/xt5250?


Please understand that tn5250 does not handle keyboard mapping.  It does
not read the keyboard directly.   Your operating system should be telling
it (via the ncurses library) that F12 was pressed.  

If F12 isnt working, it means that for some reason the OS doesnt
understand your F12 (such as if the terminfo entry isnt loaded, or the
key is mapped to send a different string) or that the OS is using F12
for something else, and not passing it on to tn5250.
