ncurses does support >80 col mode... tn5250 can do 132x27 in an xterm
(which uses ncurses)
In order to do it in console mode, however, you'd have to make Linux run
at a resolution >= 132x27. Since it's using your video card's text
modes, you'd need a video card capable of doing a 132x27 (or better) text
mode.
As for the command to switch to that mode in Linux -- I have no idea. In
FreeBSD, I'd simply type: vidcontrol 132x30
At any rate, this isn't a tn5250 issue, it's a more general Linux/Hardware
issue of whether your system is capable of doing a text mode that supports
132 columns.
