Neither the Linux console nor xterm support rules like a 5250
terminal. It could be supported in an emulator that used X11 directly
(or via Gtk or whatever).
If you can find a terminal that supports rules, you could modify the
terminfo database for it to turn them on when tn5250 starts and off
again when it ends. Good luck. ;)
