The "-s" "-T" style arguments have not been used in a very long time. Start by updating to the current version (0.16.3) of tn5250. There were a lot of bug fixes added to lp5250d. You will find newer versions at: http://tn5250.sourceforge.net With the newer version, create a ~/.tn5250rc file that looks like this: printer { host = as400 env.DEVNAME=LINPRT1 outputcommand=scs2ascii|lpr env.IBMMFRTYPMDL=*OKI184IBM } then start the printer with: lp5250d printer If that doesn't work, try enabling syslog. lp5250d writes diagnostic messages to the info facility of the system logger.... so, edit /etc/syslog.conf, and add an entry like *.info /var/log/infolog then restart the syslogd: killall -1 syslogd and kill lp5250d and try again. Check that log file for info. If that still does not help you, then change ~/.tn5250rc to look like this: printer { host = as400 env.DEVNAME=LINPRT1 outputcommand=scs2ascii|lpr env.IBMMFRTYPMDL=*OKI184IBM trace=/home/joel/lp5250trace.txt } then kill lp5250d and try again. After it fails again, kill lp5250d and check the contents of /home/joel/lp5250trace.txt. The contents of that trace file will be a bit obscure if you're not familar with the way tn5250 works, but perhaps you'll see a clue. If you're still stumped after trying these things (and only after trying these things) e-mail me a copy of that lp5250trace.txt file. Please e-mail it to me directly, do not send it to the mailing list. Good luck! _______________________________________________ This is the Linux 5250 Development Project (LINUX5250) mailing list To post a message email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/linux5250 or email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/linux5250.
