Gents,
I'm afraid I'll also not be able to make it tonight, prior commitment and
all - see you all next time, if there is one. What is going on here anyway?
Jeff, are you still alive? Do you not wish to lead us to victory any
longer? Have you been paid off by M$ ;) ? If not, does someone else want
to lead the group? (not to step on Jeff's toes, only if he no longer wants
to do it).
Off topic items:
1. Any other Comcast@Home (or *@home) customers? Any news on their new
plan? I know they'll be switching soon, but I don't know if they'll be
switching IP addresses/DNS servers/gateways etc. Right now they have static
IP addresses that are assigned via DHCP. It assigns you the same IP address
everytime based on your hostname and I *think* the MAC address (or similar
identification) of your cable modem. If you know your IP address, you can
set it statically. I guess I'll have to turn DHCP on on my linux router on
the external NIC. Does anyone know anything different or can confirm this?
2. I'm looking to buy a used PowerMac. Not top of the line but something
to learn and play around on < $100. Any body have anything like that? If
it has a VGA port I don't need a monitor. Having an OS installed and an
ethernet port would be nice, too :)
Thanks all,
George

Subject: HamLUG's December meeting
It's almost that time again. It looks like the meeting will be tomorrow
evening Tues 4 Dec 01. I hope there was no shifting of the library's
schedule. <g>
At the last meeting, we were talking about bringing Linux computers to do a
networking session. I am hoping on being able to come for the meeting and,
if I do, I'll bring my Linux system and a hub. But I can't say 100% that I
will be there.
