Agenda for January 7, 2002 HAMLUG Meeting
at Hamilton Library
---------------------------------
Jeff Yep suggested I throw out an agenda for
the meeting. I spoke with Jerry and he's ready
to go. So here's the plan:

6:30 pm
------
+ Early birds arrive with their computers and
hubs
and set up a LAN. In addition to multiple
distros
of Linux, Windows machines are welcome so we
can
     play with cross platform connectivity.

+ Resolve network connectivity issues. (fun!)

7:00 pm
------
   Short Business Meeting. Announcements and
   business items. Agenda:

     + 2002 Meeting Schedule
           Library dates available
           News on Hightstown Facility

+ Who can take on the web site edits for
       meeting schedule and announcements?

     + Ideas for future meetings.

+ LUG Booth at TCF (Trenton Computer
Festival)

7:30pm
------
+ Q&A session. A chance to throw out your
questions about Linux, or problems your
working on, and get answers from the group.
(Wayne will moderate, if that's OK with
Y'all.)

8:00 pm
------
   Presentation:

'EtherReal' - An Open Source GUI packet
sniffer
running on Linux. Jerry Ely will
demonstrate
EtherReal and discuss analysis of common
        network connectivity problems using the
sniffer.

[ And some sample problems to work with may
be our LAN connectivity! :) ]

-------------------------

On Monday, Jan 7, bring ethernet hubs.
We'll need them. And power strips and
cat-5 cables.

I plan is to bring a box with
a DHCP server to make the network hookups
quicker. If anyone else wants to bring a DHCP
server we could use a backup. I will also
try to have a file system exported via NFS
and shared via SAMBA through which we can
exchange files and software (like copies
of EtherReal or the EtherReal rpm?).

I'd also like to have the *.html files from our
web site on hand in case we want to edit them
that night for upload the next day. Does anyone
want to bring the HAMLUG web site files?

(OK, it's an ambitious agenda, but let's go for
it!)
