Where to find Etherape: http://sourceforge.net/projects/etherape/
Here's a snippet from that page telling about the utility: EtherApe is a graphical network monitor modeled after etherman. Featuring Ethernet, IP, TCP, FDDI and Token Ring modes, it displays network activity graphically. Hosts and links change in size with traffic. Color coded protocols display. <End of Snippet> It is designed for the GNOME environment and the current version is 0.8.2. Side note: I see a "Dilbert-like" snag with utility's name in some workplaces. A pointy-haired boss telling the techies that etherape cannot be used in the workplace because its name might violate the corporate sexual harassment policies. Even if it was called "ether-consensual-intimacy", it would violate the policy. (But then, there may be some corporations which can't call those polices *sexual* harassment policies because that might be too suggestive. <g>) I checked the etherape source site for any pointers to how the name is pronounced and it seems that Juan Toledo, the programmer of the utility, calls it EtherApe and he is going to change the program's name to avoid the name controversy.
