Several of the DOS FDISKs had a write MBR option. None wrote a new MBR. The Wipe utility worked. As to the question why wipe it for a secondary drive, the guy's primary is an 800 MB, he may decide to use the really big 1.7 Gig as the primary. Again, thanks for the help.
