Job Description
Manage, maintain & support LINUX (RedHat) operation systems.
Maintain & support WEB applications on LINUX, apply patches and maintain LINUX kernel.
Maintain & support HP-UX & Solaris systems
Work with engineers and customers to evaluate, recommend and implement new LINUX technologies
Work with vendors and LINUX & UNIX Engineering Teams to enhance environments
Work with vendors and system administrators to implement new hardware and operating systems
Interact with clients/customers to address problems/issues and develop solutions.
Troubleshoot performance (CPU, Memory, Swap, I/O) problems and participate in capacity planning
Evaluate existing and future technologies (hardware, software, and databases) for cost effective solutions
Develop detailed plans and procedures for their deployment. Maintain & develop SOPs.
Participate in OS installs, upgrades, monitoring memory, processes, CPU, Disk I/O and filesystems
Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
Plan, test, document, and coordinate scheduled maintenance downtime. Maintain SLA.
Develop scripts to automate mundane tasks and improve automation.
Responsible for Oracle database filesystem maintenance and OS performance tuning.
Comply with change management procedures and adhere to change policies.
Qualifications
Must have at least 5+ years of experience in LINUX (RedHat) System Administration.
Must have at least 5-8 years of experience in UNIX Administration in a HP-UX or Solaris environment.
Must have excellent Linux/Unix shell (bsh, csh, ksh, bash, and/or Perl) scripting knowledge and experience.
RedHat Certification (RHCE) is desirable.
Experience with Logical Volumes, OmniBack and Openview/ITO.
Experience with Compaq/Intel hardware a plus.
Experience with LINUX clustering and troubleshooting SAN & network connectivity problems.
Knowledge and/or experience with Storage Management solutions (EMC, HSM, SAN) a plus.
Understanding of protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, FTP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and TCP/IP.
Knowledge and/or experience of WEB technologies (BEA WebLogic, BroadVision, Apache TomCat, etc).
Knowledge of SAN technology (EMC, Hitachi) is a plus.
Knowledge of Oracle database & experience a plus.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational and excellent project management skills.
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
