Depending upon how much it costs, SSH might be good to add. TYS will charge an extra fee; I don't know if it is a one time fee or a monthly.
PHP Nuke or PostNuke might be nice to tinker with. If anybody is going to try tinkering with scripts, do read the TYS Policy page, especially the section concerning scripts. They have some special conditions to avoid server troubles. Nothing to deter from going with TYS but it was interesting looking at their policy. They are very spam adverse. From a literal reading of the policy, it'd be easy knocking anybody off the TYS server; just bother the sysadmins with claims of spamming or other matters. Also don't post anything that upset the staff. Sorta funny reading about the "Violence" prohibition. Granted, it is a tough thing to define but I wonder if a WB Roadrunner cartoon parody with a fast moving Tux and Wiley "Windows" Coyote with plenty of cartoon violence would upset the staff. <g> The policy is also mute about privacy of customer info and under what conditions will the service hand over customer info, logs, etc. (These days, it is best to assume that businesses will hand over info about you at the slightest hint of lawyers or law enforcement without waiting for court orders, warrants, etc. Seen as both "good corporate citizenship" and as a way of keeping legal costs down.) For HamLUG, this is not a big problem for the foreseeable future. Just don't post articles about DeCSS and how to add its library to Xine. <g> Oh, one other thing about the policy, TYS seems to have a thing against providing IRC software or files. I can understand about not wanting IRC session running on their server or malicious IRC files on the servers, but I wonder if they got bit by something involving IRC, file transfers, etc. With other materials, like MP3's, they make distinctions according to copyrights On Monday 13 October 2003 12:44, Jeffrey Yep wrote: > Here's an update on the web hosting offer we got from Train Yard > Software.
